Best fake tan tips - how to get an amazing sunless tan

There is a certain art to applying a fake tan and if you want a really outstanding fake tan then there a few important tips you should consider! Fake tanners are sometimes made fun of because of the stigmatism that is related to your typical fake tanner - orange streaky skin, usually looking like they have painted their face with orange paint as opposed to using fake tan! Well the good news is this doesn't have to be you! If you want to look like you've spent a couple weeks in the sun then follow these simple tips:

Firstly, get a decent product! It's worth spending a bit of extra cash on a higher quality product, if you buy a cheap one you are going to end up with an orange tint and there is nothing you can do about that! As far as personal recommendations go I would say the best fake tan I've ever had was from using Joliese sunless tanner. Next you need to prepare your skin for the fake tan, so make sure your skin is clean and always exfoliate to remove dead skin cells, by doing this you will make sure that the fake tan lotion absorbs properly and you get a nice finish. Some fake tanners come as part of a beauty kit and might come with an exfoliater.
When it comes to applying the fake tanner itself I usually wear a pair of plastic gloves to make sure I don't get the tan on my palms as this doesn't look good, believe me! Make sure you rub the lotion in slowly and work it into the skin to get proper absorption. Do it slowly and evenly and you will end up with a nice even finish that doesn't have streaks, white patches or blotches.

Once you've finished applying it you should let it dry, how long this takes depends on the product you've used but you should make sure its fully dry before attempting a shower or putting your clothes on! Some fake tan products will use an instant bronzer and so you will see the results almost straight away, however it usually takes a few hours for it to fully absorb into your skin and then you will see the end result. If you have followed all the above steps then you should have the best fake tan you can get and this will usually last around a week, spray tans generally last a bit longer and using a spray tan kit might give you up to a two week tan! To get the most out of your fake tan I would recommend using a moisturizer daily as this will help to keep the fake tan a few extra days.
