Balloons San Diego- How to make a balloon bike

How to make a balloon bicycle- warning, novice balloon artists may find these instructions difficult to follow. Search for the video for a clearer understanding...

Take 5 260 balloons- (2 black, 3 red) and inflate them ALMOST all the way.

Take the first red balloon, stretch it.

Find the center of the balloon and twist in half. Clip that attachment point with your pinky and palm while you get the next balloon ready.

Take one of the black balloons. Twist off a 1 inch bubble and twist it into the connection point you made on the first balloon. Spiral the second balloon around the first balloon- like one of those big lollipop wheels.

Take the two ends of the red balloon and clip a little bubble off the end of the black balloon that's been spiraled- twist the bubble from the black balloon and the red balloons together- maintain a steady pressure while doing this, or it will unravel at this point.

Bring the two ends of the red balloon together, go up about a hand's width and twist them together. This will be the front tire and front handle bars.

Take the next 2 red balloons, find their center and twist them together in an X formation.

Take the black balloon, twist off a little bubble, and spiral it around BOTH red balloons, so that there are two sticks coming out from each side of the black lollipop.

Bring two of the red balloons (one from each side) up to the top of the spiral. Maintain a steady pressure while you clip a bubble off the end of the black balloon and twist it into the two red ends.

Go to the short side of the black spiral, and bring the other two red pieces together around the black wheel.

Take one of the red balloons that you just twisted, and bring it up to the other two red balloons- the ones that are twisted to the black bubble. Twist it into that grouping. This will become the seat.

Take the three long red pieces, twist little bubbles into the ends of them, and twist them all together. This forms the frame of the bike.

Attach the three little bubble to the connection point you made earlier in the front tire.

The remaining red balloon that is sticking up will become the seat- go up a few inches from the tire and make a loop twist.

There's the bike!
